The Coastal Reeds performs for schools and communities throughout Connecticut, showcasing the unusual and beautiful sounds of the double reed instruments. We give workshops in schools for students interested in double reeds, and demonstrate the craft of reed making.
We also enjoy performing concerts in libraries, churches and auditoriums as well as outdoor venues.

Our Story
OUR NAME
Our name, The Coastal Reeds reflects our identity as double reed players, where we all live, and the windswept image of reeds bowing to ocean breezes.

OUR MISSION Music Teachers in schools and educational venues need help building their double reed programs, so we put together an informative workshop/presentation to showcase double reeds. We want to inspire students to take up the "mission possible" of playing a double reed instrument.

OUR DREAMSWe want to bring double reeds to everyone so that they are as familiar as any other instrument. We also want to demystify the myth that it is impossible to play a double reed. Yes, it's possible!
